Linux Supports Microsoft Network Access Protection (NAP) with Avenda NAP Agent

Now, Linux can support NAP encryption protecting your wired network from rouge machines and roaming onsite consultants.

Mac support is rumored to be soon be available.

Avenda NAP Technologies – Avenda Systems

The Linux NAP Agent is a Microsoft NAP compatible client that supports 802.1x enforcement. The agent authenticates and get its health status validated with either Avenda eTIPS or Microsoft NPS.

Authentication Methods

  • PEAPv0 (EAP-MSCHAPv2)
  • PEAPv0 (EAP-TLS)

Health Check

  • Firewall Status – Check for firewall status, with auto-remediation
  • Service Status – Check for different services running on the system. Auto-remediate by starting or stopping services.
  • Firewall Ports – Check status of open or blocked TCP/UDP ports (available only with eTIPS Policy Server)
  • Anti-Virus Status – Check if anti-virus software is up-to-date (available only with eTIPS Policy Server)

  • Redhat Enterprise Linux 4 and above
  • CentOS 5 and above
  • Fedora Core 6 and above

Avenda Linux NAP SHV for Microsoft NPS

The Linux NAP System Health Validator (SHV) for Microsoft NPS works with the Linux NAP Agent to validate and enforce health status of a Linux client.
